Kolbe Offers New AIA/CES courses on Designing Better Spaces

As a registered AIA/CES provider, Kolbe is pleased to announce the addition of two new presentations to our list of continuing education courses. These presentations are designed to provide AIA Learning Units (LU) and/or Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) credits as required per state and/or professional memberships to meet yearly requirements.


Designing Better Spaces Series: Unique Door and Window Applications

Unique Door and Window Applications discusses the benefits of integrating innovative windows and doors to achieve beautifully designed spaces.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize how to design and incorporate better spaces in the home using windows and doors.
  • Solve architectural design challenges by selecting the correct specialized window and door products.
  • Recognize situations where specific products or options can fulfill the architectural design intent or the client's wishes.
  • Understand the capabilities and services of custom window and door manufacturers and what solutions they can provide to challenging projects.


Designing Better Spaces Series: Customized, Personalized Windows & Doors

Customized, Personalized Windows & Doors covers customization possibilities for windows and doors. It discusses how specific window and door products, along with a variety of options, can enhance the outcome of a project. Aesthetics and performance will be addressed, and include specifics to each region of the country. This course will also present some truly remarkable client ideas that have become reality.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and recognize the variety of ways to customize and personalize windows in buildings to meet or exceed energy code requirements and achieve design goals.
  • Investigate the design options and details affecting energy performance when specifying different parts of windows.
  • Assess the functional contributions of windows as they contribute to green, environmental and sustainable design standards and the health, safety, and welfare of occupants.
  • Explore specific applications through case study examples of a variety of successful design projects that meet or exceed code level performance.
