Extruded Alum. Clad Frame
Extruded Aluminum Clad Frame
- Used for Ultra Series, Heritage Series and Fiberglass doors
- Matches with Ultra Series windows for a seamless look
- Durable .050" thick cladding of 6063 extruded aluminum alloy, press-fit onto the exterior wood frame
- Accessory grooves are integral to the frame for easy addition of extruded trims and sill nosings

Extruded aluminum trim is designed to offer architectural aesthetics similar to wood trim, with the added benefit of greater durability and lower maintenance. It is offered with Ultra Series products.

Trim is available in the same colors as window and door units; Sand fluoropolymer finish is shown. For the entire selection of colors, see Environmental Expressions Color Palette and/or Anodized Exterior Finish.
In most cases, the same color is chosen for the trim as for the window or door frame and sash. Combinations are possible, however. See the Tivoli Student Union project for an example of complementary colors used on sash vs. frame and trim, as well as custom trim profiles created for the project.
Please contact your local Kolbe dealer to explore the possibilities of creating a custom trim profile.
Keep in mind that limitations apply when combining trim options; i.e., not all brickmould profiles can be combined with all sill nosing profiles, and not all profiles are available for radius units.
Note: Extruded aluminum billet consists of 50-75% recycled material.

Most Heritage Series products are coated on the exterior with latex primer, ready for your choice of topcoat.
Wood Option - FSC Certified
Kolbe's wood products are constructed of pine as standard, for a stable product that will accept many beautiful finishes. Other wood species are available, as shown above.
Kolbe offers FSC COC certified wood for its Ultra Series & Heritage Series products. This means it is harvested from well-managed forests and each entity that handles the wood complies with the social, economic and ecological values defined by the FSC. Before assembly, wood pieces of the window or door are immersed in a preservative with both an insecticide and a fungicide -- helping the exterior wood surfaces resist decay. This preservative meets standards set by WDMA I.S.4-2000.
