Multiple Assemblies

Box-to-Box Assembly

Standard operating and stationary units can be combined box-to-box to achieve multiple assembly configurations. Rough/masonry openings can be determined as follows:

Casements & Awnings
Single Units: Frame Width + 1/2"; Frame Height + 1/2"
Multiple Units: Overall Frame Width + 1/2"; Overall Frame Ht + 1/2"

Double Hungs & Sliders
Single Units: Frame Width + 1/2"; Frame Height + 9/16"
Multiple Units: Overall Frame Width + 1/2"; Overall Frame Ht + 9/16"

Large assemblies may be knocked-down by the factory for shipping and/or may need to be designed with structural reinforcement.

Continuous Sill Assembly

Ultra, Heritage, and Classic Series casements and awnings (i.e. crank-out, crank-out EP and push-out models) are an exception to the standard box-to-box assembly, in that certain units have continuous heads and sills. See the illustrations below for mull details. (VistaLuxe® Collection, Latitude® Series and Windquest® Series products are all mulled box-to-box.)

Size Limitations for Wood Windows & Doors

An Ultra, Heritage or Classic Series mulled unit cannot exceed 168" (14 feet) x 108" (9 feet) overall. Larger sized mull unit assemblies may require alternate installation methods or field mulling. The glass ratio cannot exceed 6:1 for annealed glass or 8:1 for tempered glass. VistaLuxe Collection mulled units cannot exceed 120" (10 feet) x 96" (8 feet) overall. (For details about mulling Latitude and Windquest Series vinyl products, please contact your dealer.)
