Tax Credits for Energy Efficient Kolbe Windows and Doors

Save on Your Energy Bill and on Your Tax Bill
Many Kolbe windows and doors are eligible for federal tax credits when replacing units in an existing home. Simply use the search feature below to identify those products. Many more are pending certification and may be eligible in the near future. To identify those products, please specify Products Pending Certification when using the search feature.

Do you already have Kolbe windows installed, but would like to take advantage of the tax credits? You may add combination storm/screen units to your existing Ultra, Heritage, or Classic Series wood double hung and/or slider windows. As long as the existing units are listed and qualify with combos applied and meet the .30/.30 provision, those combination units will be eligible for the tax credits.

NOTES: (back to top of chart)
U-Value (or U-Factor): The lower the U-factor, the greater a window's resistance to heat flow and the better its insulating value. Units are Btu/(hr•ft2•ºF).

SHGC: Solar Heat Gain Coefficient Total is a unitless number representing the ratio of radiant solar energy passing through/ incident solar radiation. A small SHGC is desirable during summer. This includes the effect of frame and dividers, which have SHGC of almost zero. Shading Coefficient = SHGC / 0.86.

VT: Visible Transmittance of the total fenestration product system is the transmittance across the visible portion of the solar spectrum where sensitivity to each wavelength is weighted by the eyes response. Vt is expressed as a dimensionless number from 0 (completely opaque) to 1.0 (completely clear). This value is influenced by the glass selection and by the ratio of glazing and frame area. Vtc high number (Ø.65) means nearly clear view, and low Vt total number means tinted view.
