Kolbe Entrance Doors Range from Green to Geometric

Make a Grand, Personalized Statement with Kolbe Entrance Doors

Wausau, Wis. (June 1, 2009) -- Kolbe encourages residential designers, builders and owners to make a grand statement with their entrances. Combining standard wood, aluminum-clad and fiberglass doors with options and accessories, homeowners can create a full range of expressions from the green to the geometric.

"Homeowners have begun to recognize that their front door communicates a lot about the value of their home, as well as the personality of those who live there," observes Lance Premeau, Kolbe's product manager. "The front door is a home's face to the world. Make it as special as you are by perfectly tailoring it for you and your home."

Customized features for Kolbe entrance doors include divided lite styles, exterior trim, and wood species like mahogany and Douglas fir. Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified wood options also are available.

"Ensuring the selected wood comes from well-managed forests delivers an eco-friendly message and can contribute points toward certification for such green building programs," says Cindy Bremer, Kolbe's director of marketing. "Combining FSC-certified options with energy-efficient glass choices further supports environmentally sensitive projects such as those pursuing ENERGY STAR, Green Globes, NAHB's Green Building Program, and LEED certification."

Beyond energy-efficient performance, Kolbe entrance doors may be specified to be hurricane impact-resistant. For an emphasis on the aesthetic, fine-crafted, metal-accented and stained glass looks present a one-of-a-kind design. Sills, hinges, handles and plates all can be ordered to suit. Blinds and clavos further enhance fiberglass doors. Select specialty colors and finishes, including a wire brush finish for a rugged texture, or request a custom color.

"When seeking the unique, remember that doors come in all shapes and sizes," adds Premeau. "The traditional rectangle can be elongated up to 10-feet-high, and appear even taller by stacking windows above the operable door. It can be widened with right- and left-swing double doors, and coupled with sidelites for a full, sunlit welcome. For an unforgettable impression, try softening the edges with curved eyebrows, ovals and arched tops, or go geometric with octagonal, triangular and diamond-shaped accent windows."
