Windquest EP Windows Provide Top Tier Energy Performance
Insulating values nearly twice as good as current ENERGY STAR requirements
Wausau, Wis. (October 1, 2009) - Exceeding 2010 ENERGY STAR® criteria for all U.S. climate zones, Kolbe introduces its new, Windquest® Series Energy Performance (EP) windows. Available as casement, awning and studio windows, these low-maintenance, long-lasting products feature a 1.25-inch, triple glazing system.
"These windows achieve energy performance ratings that put them in the top tier in the industry with U-Values of 0.18/.19 and R-values of over 5, along with Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of .23. These insulating values are nearly twice as good as those currently required by ENERGY STAR," says Mark Harger, general manager of Kolbe's facility operations in Manawa, Wis.
He continues, "Furthermore, our units allow for a maximum air infiltration of only .01 cubic foot per minute, which is 30 times better than the industry standard." Verifying this exceptional performance, Kolbe's Windquest EP windows are certified to achieve an R-PG50 (residential performance grade) rating and structural DP50 rating.
Windquest EP windows come standard with a special combination of high-performance LoE coatings on the glass to optimize U-value, visible transmittance, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, and external appearance. Other triple-glazed LoE options are available to meet passive solar design requirements.
Beyond performance, Windquest EP windows present a full range of design options including divided lites as either grilles-in-the-airspace (GIAs) or performance divided lites (PDL) in numerous bar widths. Available in white or beige, the products also may be color-coated on the exterior with a polyurethane color finish.
