Find Windows & Doors That Meet Tax Credit Requirements

Kolbe Offers Energy Efficient Windows & Doors that Meet .30/.30, and a Searchable Database to Identify Them

Wausau, Wis. (March 2, 2009) - The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 extends and modifies the energy-efficient home improvement tax credits for windows, doors, and skylights. Helping builders guide homeowners seeking to take advantage of this economic stimulus package, Kolbe offers numerous products to meet these requirements and an easy, online selection tool. To use this tool, please visit Kolbe's Web site and click on "2009 Stimulus Package & Energy Tax Credits,"

To qualify for tax credit, windows and doors must have a U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of 0.30 or less. Kolbe provides many products that comply with these performance criteria, are built in the USA, and support the national economy. The online tool allows users to search and sort by glass coating, gas fill, product model, product name, and product series. Kolbe's vice president of sales and marketing, Bob Kasten, reminds users to "pay special attention to the sash and frame combinations along with the options that are shown."

Kasten adds that to benefit from these tax credits, homeowners must maintain their own records that windows meet the qualification requirements. These records are to include receipts and the Manufacturer Certification Statement. Kolbe's Manufacturer Certification Statement is the back of the blue Kolbe window label that shows the U-Value and SHGC.

The maximum credit has been raised from $500 to $1,500 for combined improvements to one, existing, primary residence during the years 2009-2010. The prior $200 cap on windows noted in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 has been removed. Additional information on federal tax credits for energy-efficient home improvements may be found at the ENERGY STAR® Web site,
