Kolbe Introduces New Screens

Tighter Weave Increases Visibility and Insect Control

Wausau, Wis. (June 1, 2009) - Kolbe's wood window and door products now offer BetterVue® screen mesh as a standard feature, providing superior performance to standard screen products. BetterVue's charcoal-colored fiberglass mesh enhances the sense of openness, while increasing light transmission and insect protection. Rust- and corrosion-resistant, it is certified by GREENGUARD® for superior indoor air quality performance.

"The tighter weave of the mesh makes the screen seem invisible. They are so easy to see through, that homeowners barely realize the screens are there," says Lance Premeau, Kolbe's product manager.

When windows are closed and the screen is not in use, Kolbe's pull-down retractable screen products enable screens to virtually disappear. Retractable screens are an option on the Ultra and Heritage Series Sterling double hung windows, push-out casement and awning windows. BetterVue screen mesh also is standard on Ultra, Heritage and Classic Series window and door screens.

For heightened performance and clarity, UltraVue® fiberglass screen mesh may be selected as an option on Ultra, Heritage and Classic Series window products. UltraVue mesh is not recommended for door products and is not provided for Kolbe's retractable screen products.

BetterVue and UltraVue have a maximum screen width of 48-inches and frames may be color-coordinated to match with windows and doors' exterior finish colors. Interior wood-wrapped screen frames may be selected for rectangular wood casement and awning windows with roto-style, outswing operation. In addition to the new fiberglass screen mesh, Kolbe offers aluminum screen mesh in the colors of charcoal and bright aluminum. Brass mesh is available for screens with brass frames.
